Private music clubs, collective feeds, and tri-state visibility
Form private record clubs and collectives. Learn how to create circles, invite members, assign admin roles, and share exclusive circle-only playlists hidden from public feeds.
Mixyt provides three distinct privacy tiers for every playlist you create.
This gives you granular control over who can discover, listen to, and collaborate on your music stories.
| Privacy Tier | Who Can Access? | Where Is It Visible? |
|---|---|---|
| Public | Anyone on the web | Explore feeds, curator profile, direct URL, theme showcases |
| Circle Only | Accepted members of selected Circle + Collaborators | Circle playlist stream at /dashboard/circles/[id] |
| Private | Owner + Explicit direct collaborators | Personal dashboard only |
Any registered curator can create a circle at /dashboard/circles by clicking + Create Circle.
Choose a memorable title (e.g., 'Tokyo City Pop Society' or 'Late Night Ambient Club'). The URL slug will auto-generate or can be customized.
Describe the circle's genre focus or aesthetic rules. You can optionally add a custom masthead cover image.
Upon creation, you become the Circle Owner with full administrative privileges.
Inside your circle page (/dashboard/circles/[id]), click Invite Member. Enter the curator's exact Mixyt username and assign a role (Member or Admin). The invitee receives a notification and a pending invitation card.
Visit /dashboard/circles and switch to the Pending Invites tab. You can review the circle details and inviter, then click Accept (Check icon) or Decline (X icon).
When creating or editing a playlist, toggle the Privacy switch to Circle Only and pick your circle from the dropdown. Alternatively, click '+ Create Playlist for this Circle' directly from the Circle Hub.
Circle members enjoy a private chronological feed of all member-contributed playlists, complete with track counts, curator badges, and member rosters with join dates.
Circle owners and admins can remove members or promote members to admins in the Members tab. If a member is removed, their circle playlists safely revert to their private dashboard.
Members can leave a circle at any time from the circle header. If an owner deletes a circle, all associated playlists safely revert to private so no curation is lost.
