Turn music collections into longform editorial articles
Master playlist creation on Mixyt: writing rich markdown liner notes, adding YouTube tracks, linking Bandcamp and streaming platforms, drag-and-drop reordering, and exporting vintage thermal receipts.
Playlists on Mixyt are designed as editorial articles rather than plain song queues. Each playlist pairs continuous YouTube playback with curator essays, rich markdown liner notes, and track attribution.
To begin, click Create Playlist in the navigation bar or head to /dashboard/create.
Provide an evocative title (e.g. 'Midnight Neon Drift') and optional subtitle or volume indicator (e.g. 'Volume 03: Deep Focus Ambient').
Write an introductory backstory or concept notes for your listeners. Supports rich formatting: headers, bold/italics, quotes, lists, and links. Drafts are preserved locally in your browser.
Select from curated Braun-inspired aesthetic presets or paste a direct image URL (.jpg, .png, .webp). Add comma-separated tags for genre and mood discovery.
Choose between Public (discoverable globally), Circle Only (restricted to a specific Curator Circle), or Private (visible only to you and invited direct collaborators).
Mixyt streams audio and video via the official YouTube IFrame player.
Navigate to your playlist in /dashboard/edit/[id] and click the Videos tab.
Paste a full YouTube URL (e.g., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ or https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ), or the 11-character video ID.
Enter Track Title, Artist Name, and optional tags. The thumbnail is automatically fetched from YouTube if omitted.
Intentional Track Limit: Playlists are capped at 60 tracks. This intentional limit encourages thoughtful sequencing, cohesive curation, and manageable listening sessions.
Deep individual song liner notes are Mixyt's signature editorial feature.
In the Liner Notes field of each track card, share why you chose the song: highlight specific instruments, bass transitions, personal memories, or contextual listening tips (e.g. 'Best experienced on open-back headphones at twilight').
Support independent musicians by connecting listeners directly to store and stream pages.
In the track editor, open Artist & Purchase Links. Select a service from the dropdown (Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, or Custom URL) and paste the link. Mixyt renders custom verified badges for Bandcamp and streaming platforms in the playlist article.
Bandcamp links display a specialized Bandcamp badge on track headers, promoting direct-to-artist patronage.
Sequencing is key to the flow of an editorial mixtape.
In the Videos tab, click and hold the grip handle (⋮⋮) on any track card and drag it up or down. Mixyt updates the sequence optimistically and syncs track indices to the server in real-time.
Click the Pencil (Edit) icon to modify title, artist, liner notes, or purchase links at any time. To remove a track, click the Trash (Delete) icon and confirm. Changes apply immediately.
Switch to the Details tab in /dashboard/edit/[id] to update title, subtitle, essay description, cover art, tags, or switch visibility between Public, Circle Only, and Private. Click Save Changes to publish updates live.
Generate vintage, receipt-style shareable artwork summarizing your playlist.
On any published playlist page (/playlist/[slug]), click the Receipt button in the action bar. The modal generates a high-contrast monospace receipt featuring tracklist, durations, curator stamp, and custom barcode.
